Yes.  Texas loyalty is reasonably close to Virginia pre-civil war in terms
of loyalty.  That is changing rapidly in the triangle(DFW-Houston-San
Antonio)with the large influx of west coast refugees.  The ratio of natives
to newcomers is changing faster than acculturation.  Education also plays a
part in many folks go out of state to receive advanced degrees and so have
a different culture experience or travel broadens.

I have a niece in Indianapolis and even that thriving city is not changing
as rapidly as the cities in Texas.
