My M9 had the sensor glass cover plate fall off while on day 8 of a 40+
day vacation in the Maritime Provinces of Canada.

It was fixed under warranty by Leica USA.? ( Took 6 months.? On the trip
anmd until it was returned to me, I used my Fuji XE-1 and Leica lens
adapter.)

The reason I mention this is that this a pretty mundane repair.... the
glass plate is held in place to its "container" with a ring of sticky glue.

This is the same repair ( but with different glass) that KolariVision or
LifePixel makes with their IR conversions of Nikon or Canon cameras.

These cameras cost $200-300 to change out the cover plate.

I think both of them also offer this service on Leica M9 cameras as well.

It is NOT rocket science.? It does take patience and expertise.

Now for the kicker.... KEH has a bunch of M9 cameras with old sensor
glass.... and they are all candidates for the PDX treatment. If you want
a M9 at a bargain price, this might be your way.....
