India is too big and diverse to generalize. The birth rate in my state of
Tamil Nadu. which has a population of 75-80 million people, is low enough
to be comparable to any developed country in the world. We have a
replacement rate of 1.7, which means our population is trending lower quite
alarmingly.

Cheers
Jayanand
