 LED lights are usually pretty limited in spectral output.....? If the lED 
does not work, try good old fashioned daylight..... It may be slower, but it 
will work.....

Sorry! I forgot the most critical bit of information about the lens.
Concave front element.
AND!: Yes, the glass turns a pale yellowish color over time. So I put the
lens under an IKEA LED table lamp. Someone on the internet said the lamp
emitted sufficient UV light to reverse the yellowing. So far it seems to
work.
