Thanks, Nathan, you are correct.

When I took this shot (and several like it) I didn't think it would be
much, but when processing the images I became entranced by the reflections
on the trombone's horn and started trying too hard to make that into an
image that worked.

It is a classic example of seeing a part to the exclusion of the whole when
the whole basically sucks.
