If you are contemplating a Nikon lens to Sony E series adapter, let me put
in my $0.02 ( Roughly 0.02 Euros)

I have the Novoflex adapter. It works fine. BUT, it does not offer
aperture connection to the body.... ie, you must MANUALLY open up the lens
fully (turning a ring on the adapter), focus, close the lens ( ditto the
ring) to working aperture, then shoot. ( or focus at F11 or whatever your
working aperture is). If that works for you, fine, go for it.

I bought a Fotodiox adapter that is a bit more expensive, but more capable.
It has the ability to take the electrical images from the Sony body and
convert them to Nikon lens mechanical motions... including the aperture
connectivity.
If you set the working aperture, the lens opens fully for focusing, then
stops down for taking the picture. This works, as far as I can tell, for
all MF Ai and AIs lenses as well as more modern AF lenses. If you have a
A7r or A7r11 ( which I know you have), and you have Nikon G lenses ( all
electronic control) they will also AF those lenses on your Sony body. (
does not work for the generation 1 Sony bodies, the A7 ( mine) or the A7r.

It is an option....

Yes, Gene, the D4 is a really great camera too, and funnily enough I DIDN'T
buy a Nikon adaptor for my A7II despite having some ok full frame Nikon
lenses. The reason? I'm thinking of getting one.

I've delayed doing so, due to my knee issues, but I visited the theatre
- my ortho-man's one - this morning at 6am and had another couple of
injections in my knees. These bring my total to 20. Unlike the 18 previous
ones which were rooster juice, these were steroid ones. The effect has been
immediate. I can now walk without pain. Let's hope it lasts, as I miss my
mountain walking and going up to spectate at my old sport - mountain
running. If I do drop some weight and get a bit fitter again, I'll have a
D4 on my shoulder as I used to a fair bit of running shots, and get stuff
into athletic mags in the past.

Fingers and knees crossed.
