Not to hijack this thread, but I need advice also. Does anyone know of 
someone who repairs Minolta scanners?

I'm scanning the Steel Magnolias Scrapbook as we speak, on my Expression
11000.   The book is out of print, so we're loading a pdf of it on our
server for easy access. I disassembled a copy of it, and now scanning page
by page into Adobe Acrobat Pro using Vuescan, of course.
