The air was pretty thick when i was there, and it was three days before we realised that there was a view of the mountains from our hotel room window. For the first and only time in my life I had to use lip balm because the atmosphere was drying my lips out. As I saw it there were a couple of main problems: firstly a lot of cooking was done using briquettes made of coal dust, and cars had no catalytic converters. Great place though, and I would love to go back.
