I thought that it's a fairly recent development as I'd never seen the feature before, so I'm gradually letting the auto shut-off wean me in its direction. The only problem is when I use a camera that needs to be turned off after I've finished with it, I sometimes forget to do so - a king sized pain in the arse when the battery dies. The thing I thought weird about the M-D was the lack of rear screen. How did you find that arrangement, did you miss the screen, Dave?
