Just catching up with the Lug. All of these images of this trip are very 
interesting as the middle east is fascinating. I still regret not going to 
Syria with a few of my old school pals a couple of years before the place 
blew up. It's certainly not the same any more.

As for the shaved eyebrows, I'd imagine it's a another religious thing as 
women are supposed to conceal their hair, hence the burqa and other 
ridiculous conformities. As well as Islam, you also see the same tiresome 
idiocy around hair and clothing in some Jewish sects, and back in the 
50s/early 60s, catholic women had to cover their heads when going to mass. 
What is it? It seems to be another form of gang culture in its own way. No, 
I'm not religious and I don't kneel in the direction of Solms ether:-)
