Tell stories and show life during the time, start to finish covering all kinds of events of similar nature here coast to coast during the year was my "tough grind?" ;-) for many years. Usually I shot B&W with a couple or more Leica's hanging off shoulders and neck. If the event was on for a day or a week I roamed about shooting a series of storytelling type images that would be selected for the next magazine published and eventually to the National Archives of Canada. The Chief Editor would tell me? "Hey Ted there's a "corn on the cob cooking festival" in SW Ontario so go do your thing!" And away I went documenting it from start to finish! And those type of assignments in locations all over Canada and overseas if it was of interest to folks here at home? But this was real photo story photojournalism rather than the "one street photo a week if you're lucky?" Beautiful look at life real-time. Thanks Tina. cheers, ted -----Original Message----- From: LUG [mailto:lug-bounces+tedgrant=shaw.ca at leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Tina Manley Sent: December-20-15 8:30 AM To: lug; Olympus Camera Discussion; MUGers at yahoogroups.com; paw; seephoto Subject: [Leica] IMGS: Blacksburg Oyster Roast PESO: Here are the rest of the photos from yesterday. This was actually before the Burnt Mill Bar. The Oyster Roast started at 10 in the morning. It's free and everybody is invited. It is a fund-raiser, held every year for charity, and there are buckets on each table for donations. It's a small, private airport and, usually, they have drunk Santas parachuting into the crowd but it was too windy this year for even drunk pilots to fly! There was plenty of moonshine being shared and sold. Tom would not eat any of the oysters because they were steaming them in galvanized garbage cans. Evidently, they do that every year and nobody has died yet! http://www.pbase.com/tinamanley/image/162140335 And hit NEXT 12 more times. These are all with the SL and 24-90 and all AF. I couldn't see what I was doing!
