What they told me.... When a camera manufacturer is about to announce a new camera, they go to a set of "instructions" and basically take "pictures". These are sent to Adobe for the converter for the new camera. When Capture One does the same thing, they do their own testing, say it is much more thorough, and that is why Capture One is, on certain cameras, a better RAW converter engine. Specifically, Sony A7 cameras were one of the models this was done to.... ( Yes, MF like Leaf or Phase One is another). Take it with a grain of salt, but somewhere deep inside me, I feel that IF you are going to challenge the biggest dog out there ( Adobe), you had best offer something superior.... and I suspect this is the magic mojo that Capture One did for Sony. Try Capture One for Sony... ( special version) ... it was free when you bought your camera.... You may prefer the results. I do a lot of multitasking, and I got the first ever (on my work machine) notice that I had insufficient memory. I've also noticed some issues of Sony Raw not looking well converted, though I haven't seen any other complaints about that. Maybe I haven't found the right switches.
