My wife and I met when we were 18-19 years old, at the University of Buffalo?I was an exchange student from Denmark, she was an exchange student from Puerto Rico. We started dating in early November of that fall semester. When the academic year was over in May 1980, she went back to Puerto Rico and I went back to Denmark. In the following 3 years we saw each other twice, when I went to Puerto Rico in December 1980 and she came to Denmark in the summer of 1982. On 13 August 1983 we were married in Puerto Rico and settled in Buffalo, later moving to Florida, still later to New Jersey and then back to Europe. Next month we will celebrate our 32nd anniversary while visiting our wonderful son who now lives near Philadelphia. Yes, we have had our share of crises. Being from very different cultures and backgrounds has not made it easier. But it has been worth the efforts.
