I?m as good/bad as you except for keeping the backup in a separate location. 
Actually, I could easily because having backed up my RAW files periodically 
on a separate disk, I decided to add the  disk on which LR puts the RAW 
files to what is backed up on Mac?s Time Machine. It would now be reasonable 
to use that original backup disk less often and find another place to store 
it. Since my garage is far enough from my house that it should survive the 
house burning down, maybe I?ll just do that.
