I will put this with the most useful stuff I have seen this year, being:
Ian Barber's Luminosity Panel (Contrast Panel if you are in PS 2014, 
http://www.digitalblackandwhite.co.uk/shop/photoshop-custom-panels/contrast-masking-photoshop-panel/
This is very helpful especially if you have a zone system background, 
for which it is oriented.

Kolor's haze filter:
