Hi again Howard. I have and shoot with the M (typ 240) and the Nikon D600
which have the same sensor nominal resolution of course. Shooting with
their native 1.4 50's in comparable conditions the Leica results are very
clearly superior, (as they ought to be on dollars of course). But they are
systems with different strengths.

I shot a few hundred frames with a borrowed S side by side with my M
recently too. again very obviously superior if you want to peek at original
size.
