I have a cousin in Oakland, and we stayed at his place for a couple of weeks, and abused his car to visit Yosemite, Palo Alto (Bob Adler being the main attraction) etc. We even had a rendez-vous with the Oakland police department one evening when we thought my cousin's truck had been stolen (he had lent the keys to a friend without telling us). I plan to visit next spring.
