Subject: [Leica] LR 3 to 4 upgrade - anything to watch out for?

I don't recall any real pitfalls. The two biggest improvements IMHO have
been 1) the sliders for white, highlights, shadows, etc. have been
rationalized. The neutral position for all of them is now defined as zero.
When you touch a slider, the histogram shows the region that slider affects.
Big big improvement over LR3. The second thing, and I actually made use of
it once is that the tone curve can be set to affect a selected one of the
three primary colors. There was a shot last Christmas of fake icicles
hanging from a wire some twenty feet up. I photographed it very very late in
the afternoon. When I looked at the shot in LR, the background was nice blue
sky except in the lower right, where the sun through clouds made a big
splotch of yellow. I figured it might take my hours to correct it if I were
lucky. Then, on a hunch I went to the tone curve, selected blue, and started
raising the left-hand end of the curve. Lo and behold: instant correction. I
couldn't believe it. You can find that shot somewhere on my gallery.

I also think the noise reduction S/W has been improved, but I don't really
have quantitative evidence for that.
