Looks like a great few days.

The Jerusalem artichoke isn't an artichoke, it's related to sunflowers.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem_artichoke It's native to
north-eastern America, and are not really widely cultivated.  Maybe they
just haven't caught on in Spain yet.

I grow them in my garden and they are delicious.  They weren't common here
until the last 10 years or so.
