People who have been on the list more than a week know that no one decides
when the thread is over except Brian our beer keeper. The way a thread ends
is when the last person who feels like posting to it posts to it.. Then a
lurker sees it a week later and says something.
In my experience declaring that a thread is over just encourages people to
continue with it. Get the last word in.
