Mark,

I am not belittling anybodies work or choice of equipment. I am only making
a personal observation on how Nikon builds their cameras.

I've also owned most of those bodies having used them extensively over
decades and I'd describe their mirror operation as excellent which would be
stating the obvious and a long time industry consensus.. I spent very little
to nothing on repair. They're reputation was deservedly excellent. Not sure
if a Minolta I mean the early Leica R's was as reliable. I'm thinking not.
Way not.
In their day these bodies were the standard of the industry. They dominated
the market. And for good reason. Certainly a Leica SL or Leicaflex was more
"refined" then some of these nikon bodies. But the Nikons were excellently
made. They were out every day bringing the pictures in. Canon dominance
came way later.
The stuff which comes out of Leica was/is premium stuff for the most part.
Pie in the sky excellently made But there's no need to belittle what 99.9 %
of the working serious photographers were out using every day. It doesn't do
anybody any good. We don't need it!
