Subject: [Leica] Fwd: Who is winning "digital via adapter" race, was ....Re: [IDCC] Will the price of usable film cameras fall further? now...using old lenses

In the past in both film and digital medium format and 24x36mm 35mm format
was not directly comparable.
The results and uses were distinctly different.

Now Just becuae they've crammed more pixel sites into a 35mm DSLR it doesn't
make the D800 a hare breath away in quality from a Leica medium format
costing ten times as much. That would be great news if it were true and I am
a Nikon user for 4 years (1972) but as hard as I can with my fingers crossed
thinking happy thoughts I can't make myself believe that. That fact that
there's no evidence may be part of that. I certainly have no clue what IDCC
means and an extensive google search did not help.
The S2 is more of a catalog camera than an all around street or
photojournalist camera which the nikon could be used as. Just like the
Hasselblad was and is.
As far as a catalog like jobs goes photographers are far better off renting
the S2 system then using a full frame regardless how many pixels are crammed
into it. And certainly nobodies thinking a causal snap shooter is their
target market not even a very rich one.
