Vick,
My optimum solution would be to use Zeiss ZF.2 lenses on the D800E, if you
do not mind manual focusing.

Here is one comparison between the D800E and the S2:

Lloyd Chambers was even more skewed in favour of the D800 with Zeiss glass
in a comparison he did, but that is on a pay site, calling the Nikon a
standout winner. The combos he used were Nikon D800 (not D800E) + Zeiss
100mm f2 Macro Planar vs Leica S2 + Leica 120mm f2.5 APO-Macro-Summarit-S.

I will probably pick up the Zeiss 21mm f2.8 or 25mm f2 tomorrow - the demo
lenses have just arrived for me to try out.
