Doug like a lot of shooters on the list I am very sympathetic regarding
your frustrations. Many of us arrived at the same critical point for travel
photographers. As for others this was a factor for me to move to the M8
when it came out, however much I enjoyed the experience of shooting with
film.
For travellers (especially post 9/11) you just cannot be certain that there
will not be a problem. That is really the bottom line. You have to assess
the risk and consequences for yourself and what options you have.
