Another explanation is that digital sensor are linear response device. This
is similar to the effect of using 2-bath pyrocat that I use for film - it's
specifically used to give a more linear response.

If photog think that they can now avoid having to post process by using MM,
they will be sorely mistaken. Possibly it will require even more tweak than
the regular M9 files....
