I'm not entirely sure why the M7 would not be one of the best choices if
you can afford one (< $2000 used). You get as much automation as the M9 and
not much bigger than a III series. Otherwise, a used M3 is $800 and an M6
is $1200. They are much easier to use than the III.

Now of course if you love the III, that's a different story.
