The high grip as you call it is called apehangers.On the open road it is 
comfortable but i dont like it in heavy city traffic. So i have 2 HD 
Softails, one with a moderate apehanger and one with more ordinary 
handlebar. The 2 bikes are in Philippines where i spend my winter.In the 
summer time i am in Norway where i have a HD with dragbar. All are good to 
use.
In a while i will post some pics of the 2 bikes here in Philippines.

Except when you run out of gas or have a break down and have to roll-push to 
the nearest mechanic or station; saves your back a lot
