A very good, and unusual set of "best of" photos. What I make of
the equipment notes is that Reuters may supply, or have a subsidized
price on Canon equipment, though the 5D Mark II has certainly
captured a large share of the PJ market. Full frame, small size,
good low-light performance, and 1080p video for $2500 (now under
$2,000). It certainly is preferred for video. And, I'm a Nikon
shooter. As for lenses, most PJs I know have a wide angle zoom,
17-35, and a tele zoom, 70-200, and use those two lenses for 90 % of
their photos. Add a 300 for sports, and that about covers everything.
I've often thought about going back to the days of a fixed 24 mm and
a 180 mm on two bodies. It makes one work a bit harder to "see" and
to use one's feet to zoom. Not a bad thing.
