Subject: [Leica] Thinking about a D700 or D7000

CF cards have faster write speeds but are physically larger and tend to be
more expensive than SD cards. Not relevant for most users, they also have a
higher potential capacity.
For the fumble-fingered, they're harder to drop. ;-)

As a non-technical impression, I read tons of posts about problems with SD
cards and don't remember the last time I read about a CF card problem, but
that's just impression, not science.

Question on the type of memory card used...

Is there any advantage to a CF card relative to a SD card? Vice versa?

Yes, I realize one card is smaller than the other... but I wonder why
Nikon ( for one) uses CF cards in some cameras, and SD cards in others.....

Rumours are that the D700 is no longer being made and will be replaced by a
24MP FF model later this month.
