Ken,

I can not give a response to your question but this is a great and  
strong image. About the flare ..., what I see is an area of highlights  
blocked, the scene has a strong contrast difficult to manage, and IMO  
the digital images has a wrost response than film, with shortly  
dynamic range.

I'm sorry, I can't give you an advice, if this image was mine I would  
work on it and try some variations, but the image remain stron and  
pwrful.
