Doug, can you somehow quantify the relative quality of the A900 VF? I would
think that your high praise for the SL VF would say not that good, but what
about compared to the R8? A Nikon D700? Or ????

Frank,

The SL rules.
The D700 VF doesn't cover the whole sensor - you have to crop to get the
original view ...
My R8 was way better in that respect - it only missed a FF sensor.

Pana G series - ridiculous manipulations when using heavy lenses PLUS crop
factor at 2 => no wide angle
Yet the EVF is great in some circumstances - magnification is really easy
and efficient.
Yet, I handled my D700 with a novoflex 600mm yesterday, and find the
disproportion and unbalance quite difficult to accept. I'd never fit the G1
to the lens :-) :-)

Now from this to spoiling an A900 ... and getting no auto aperture in the
end ...
Better leitax or any other chinese made adaptor ($20 with shipping max,
except for a few lenses where it doesn't work)

Or buy from the body manufacturer while waiting?

Bien cordialement de Mutz
Philippe

I assume the comparison is for focusing ease... for lack of different
"specs".

( I would love a comparison to a D1x, but would take something more
current....)

Using R lenses on any camera other than Leica R means losing the
auto-aperture but the A900's color quality, excellent viewfinder and
full-frame sensor with lots and lots of pixels are very appealing, and
converting the camera's mount instead of the lens means I can still use the
lenses on SL bodies. And no mirror clearance problems.
