My friend took this while sat on a speeding bullet train.  It looks  
like the Lartigue effect, but there is not shutter on the iPhone.
Does the sensor read data from one side to the other?


Most probably, as a TV or computer screen does , across,
or vertically if the sensor is Made in Japan :-(


OTT Lartigue had an I-Phone 3.
;-)
