The problem is that under 0.7 M the rangefinder decouples and you
can't focus the lens.  You can set the distance, but you're working
from guess.  I like to work around the close focus area and get driven
mad by not being able to feel when the lens has stopped making the RF
patch move.

My Nikkor 28/1.4 (actually a ~31 mm lens) focuses to 35 cm - I use
this range often.  Lenses with floating elements are often well
corrected to this close too.  It's not that the lens focuses too
close, but that the focus decouples that drives me crazy.
