>From my experience the shadow detail that you get from an Imacon is simply 
wonderful. Combine that with the edge to edge sharpness without a glass 
holder 
(which you need for the Nikon) and you just can't compare. Plus I can scan 
4x5.
I had a Nikon 9000 and now have a 646. No measurements needed; just looking 
at 
the files shows a significant difference. 
So just my experience...

Don't do it!  I made the mistake of scanning one of my negs with an Imacon.  
You 
can see every corner of every piece of grain!  My Epson flatbed scans...well 
there is grain there.  Fortunately for the prints I make the Epson does just 
fine from MF.
