A mountain climber and potholer from Yorkshire, Joe
Brown, whom I met many years ago, was involved in the
discovery of some relics in the caves of Qumran (in the
course of a BBC expedition).

He climbed up into one of the caves and shouted back
down in his inimitable Yorkshire dialect that there was
"Nowt up 'ere but a load o' mucky rags" - the "mucky
rags" turned out to be ancient documents akin to the
Dead Sea Scrolls!

Cheers
Douglas
