Interesting - and strange.

The Germans say "Englisch" for a steak where a lighted
match has been carried past it at a distance of 10
yards (well, to be honest, just seared on all sides for
a few moments) . So raw that it's a wonder it doesn't
still moo.

I was just out to pick up the almost 3 kilos of fillet
steak we ordered for Christmas = 1x roast with
cranberry preserve, rosemary potatoes baked in olive
oil, green beans, peas, and carrots, + several steaks
with fries + 1x fondue (not cheese) + the end bits
diced and fried and in a rucola (rocket - what a silly
name) salad with shavings of Parmesan and strips of
Serrano ham, and the rest (if there is any) with salted
butter and fried onions in freshly baked baguette rolls.

The forecast says more freezing rain followed by more
heavy snow, so I hope the beef and booze carries us
through into the New Year:-)

Cheers
Douglas
