George,

Gonna have to disagree with Ted and Tina.  Yes, you might have some trouble
getting there but if you make it you will have some great opportunities to
take some really unique photos of Paris.
The last time I went I stayed near the Opera.  Find a hotel on the subway
route.  Take warm clothes.  Always order the daily special.  Have fun!  Take
extra passport photos, you will need them to get a week long pass to the
subway.
