could be.
Certainly the Canon electronic, mechanical, meter and computer linkages 
would qualify as "more complicated."
Yet the fact that the R lens does not connect to any of that remains simple 
- no connectivity to the complex camera system;
the camera has no way of knowing the aperture;
and without that knowledge cannot properly compute.
