R lenses in front of a good big Foveon sensor is a very intriguing idea.

The recently announced Sigma SD1, for example - which they list as "46
Mp", but which really boils down to 15.3 megapixels *where each pixel
has full RGB information* is most interesting.

Nothing's perfect - the sensor is 24x16mm (1.5x crop factor relative
to 24x36mm), and I'm not sure how it does in the dim, but still.

I've seen pictures from Foveon sensors look really good, and stand up
remarkably well against Bayer-array sensors with nominally more dots.
