But back to the original question, I don't think you will be disappointed 
with the recent Olympus 4/3 cameras. I have the E-1, and the E-3 is already 
legendary. I use the Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1 more often because it seems more 
idiot-proof. Everyone seems to be waiting for a successor to the E-3, but 
other than the weather-proofing and the incredibly rugged build, the less 
expensive camera bodies are apparently great. Inasmuch as dSLR bodies seem 
to have an expiration date (technology-wise), it seems to be a good idea to 
go with excellent lenses...and bodies that will be excellent until the next 
bodies come into production.

Regarding the recent thread on compact cameras, I found it ironic that the 
stock photo companies seem to be more concerned with the bodies rather than 
the lenses. The Pentax and Olympus choices of "acceptable" cameras had the 
advantage of weather-proofing.
