Actually, I was on a beach at Arenys de Mar in June/July 1976 sunning myself 
with some other Irish guys and girls when the Guardia Civil came down near 
us and randomly baton-charged a group of young Spanish men who seemed to be 
doing no harm at the time. It was an eye opener as I'd never seen such 
casual violence from a police force before.
