On the M, a wide angle is the lens of choice. At least, it's mine. As 
you go to longer focal lengths, the lens becomes less of a joy.

I particularly like the depth of field you get with a wide angle and I 
like shots that put people in the midst of what they are doing.

That's of course just my taste.
