It's impossible to see in the D40x viewfinder, so I had to take a picture and then magnify it on the screen to check focus, adjust, take another, magnify, adjust. Perhaps I needed to go through that routine a few more times. I've been enjoying the close-up capabilities of the 9 and 5 cm Elmars since getting an adapter that lets me use them on the Nikon.
