Geoff, you're right, my M8 is at Solms now, so the 2 lenses and M8 will not be sent together. However, I imagine they would be returned together, which is open to the sort of risk I think Slobodan and Geoff caution about. I've decided to send the lenses to Solms, based on Angela Frankl's offer to have the technicians calibrate them together with my particular M8. This is what she said on the phone, and is the reason why she will hold the M8 until my lenses arrive there. I got the negatives back from my tape measure focus test. Viewed with a loupe, they are all in focus, both on tripod and handheld, at 50cm, 180cm, and 340cm. It's hard to see in more detail at the farther distances, especially on the 35mm lens tests, so I will also scan the negs and view them. It does seem the 90mm Tele-Elmarit has a lot more area in focus in front than behind. I suppose this is more or less normal, is that so? I will scan with my Epson V700, which I always use, and haven't had a problem with so far in terms of focus. Then again, a dedicated film scanner would help flatten the negs. Anyway, I am not unsatisfied with the V700 to date. Perhaps the soft focus that Vince Passaro pointed out in this series comes from the nature of the series. Geoff, if I find, on looking closely at the test scans, that the M3 and/or M6 probably needs RF calibrating, I would likely want to send it/them to Solms too. You have some experience with Solms service and pricing, could you tell me how much they charge for RF calibration? Peter Cheyne
