This is the second time I've seen this mentioned.  Nikonscan should have a 
Digital ICE option.  It's a hardware and software feature - I've found 
Vuescan's implementation of the software side is lacking compared to 
Nikonscan.

It doesn't always work correctly on Kodachrome though.  I sometimes get 
funny artifacts in areas where there are strong edge-relief features (when 
you look at the backs side of the slide in grazing light).
