Vince,

I'm just wading through som old digests and I came upon your post. Perhaps
you are thinking of DPI, or Douglas Photo. It is in Wichita, where the owner
and I started out our photographic careers together. When the commercial
studio where we both worked went under, I moved to an airplane factory and
he started a lab. His work is quite good, as he uses dip & dunk machines,
and maintains a carefully monitored system. Unfortunately, you could once
get same day service, but now he just runs film three days a week. He has
process and scan service as well. douglasphoto.com

You might also be thinking of Dwaynes, in Parsons Kansas, about an hour
away. They are legit, but more of a drugstore processing place, despite
their K14 l'ine.

Good Luck

Bill Pearce
