In fact, the 35 was "too wide" for me, even though the 35 'lux ASPH is without peer. Then when I started to shoot the XPan and later the Mamiya 7II, I kept reaching for the widest lens. Now moving back to the M, the 35mm seems limiting. The 21 SA is just right a lot of time. It gives you such a sense of space. And I think one of the tricks with 21mm portraits from Jeanloup Sieff is the vertical format. I need to try more, but I think the visual wide angle distortion is less from the side...
