As in, "I bet the final health care bill won't have a public option even now that legislatively they've figured out a way to pull it off...." My take on costs was entirely based on what I think CV perceives its marketing model to be: an area of some interest to me. In other words any interested company with sufficient upfront capital can make a knockoff M9 and sell it for a little less. But CV perceives itself differently. My price guess was based entirely on my sense of that company's "branding" philosophy, which would make it highly unusual for them to issue a full frame digital camera that cost significantly more than any other on the market and right now that bar is set at $2000 with the Sony A850. the D700 is down to $2400 and the new Canon 5D mark II is $2500. My belief is -- and guess what happens if I'm wrong? Nothing! -- that CV wouldn't do a FF digital camera, rangefinder or no, if they couldn't be very competitive with those prices. That's "why I "say this." If it's not full frame, then I picture them competing price-wise with the D300.
