Taken as read.  And one of the things I use the GF1 for, when it's the
second camera in the bag, is as the little camera with the built-in
tele converter which doesn't lose lens speed.

Absolutely.  And the middles of some of the older, "traditional"
pre-ASPH Leica lenses are particularly succulent.  The pre-ASPH 50mm
Summilux's deficiencies (if you're anti-vignetting-and-softness, which
I'm not always) are in the corners; in the middle it still kicks ass.

I like the succulent middles of lenses and perfectly cooked steaks.
