I have found it necessary to make sure my software was up to date when I got
a new digital body.
If all I had in my bank account was enough for a new digital camrea I'd not
buy that camera unless my software was recently also updated.
Its like when you buy a car it helps to have some money for gas for the
drive home.
Or bring a big red bucket filled with gas to the dealer.
